Are you interested in becoming Catholic?
Often called RCIA or Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults. This Christian Initiation Process allows adults and youth, ages 8 & up, who are unbaptized or those who come from another Christian tradition and those who are Catholic but have not completed all the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation & First Communion) the opportunity to learn more about the Catholic faith in a supportive and prayerful environment. This process looks different for those under the age of 18.
We also welcome any Catholics who would like to learn more to join us as well. Growing in our faith is a lifelong journey.
The goal of RCIA is to help you to know in your heart and mind the Catholic Faith. We focus on Prayer, living out the Catholic Habits and studying the Faith.
Parishioners: Do you know anybody who is thinking about becoming Catholic? Please pray for them, walk with them on their journey, and encourage them to contact us when they are ready!
We invite any parishioners to be sponsors or faith companions for those going through RCIA, contact Kate if you would like to help in this role.
A great resource is www.formed.org, sign up as a parishioners from St. Matthew Cedar Rapids for free access.
You can also click here to check out the How to Strengthen your Prayer Life Playlist on our YouTube Channel. We invite you to just pick one of the videos/prayer styles to watch today and reflect on it and how it might fit into your life especially as you prepare to join the Catholic Church.
One of the most important things you can do to prepare yourself to join the Catholic Church is to regularly attend Mass. While you are attending Mass, we ask that during Communion you come forward with your arms crossed over your chest so that you might receive a blessing from the Priest or Eucharistic Minister. Please do not receive the Eucharistic until you been brought into full communion in the Catholic Church.
Thank you for your interest in becoming Catholic. We look forward to journeying with you.
