First Reconciliation & First Communion

In conjunction with Family Ministry, East Side Catholic Ministries (St. Matthew + All Saints) is helping second grade students (and their parents) prepare for their second grade Sacraments with four mini-retreats throughout the school year. The four mini-retreats will take place on Saturday mornings during the Fall and Spring Semesters at All Saints from 9-11am for all second grade students and their parents. These mini-retreats are an opportunity for hands-on learning facilitated by East Side Catholic Ministries, but with the focus on the child and their parents working together. Reception of the second grade Sacraments will take place at each child’s own parish with First Reconciliation in the Winter and First Communion in the Spring.

First Reconciliation

This Sacrament is received before First Communion, during the winter months. It will be the first time your son or daughter experiences the graces of Reconciliation by receiving forgiveness from God for the sins they have committed.

First Communion

This is the first time your son or daughter will receive the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ during Mass. The Eucharist is the source and summit of our Catholic faith, making this an essential and beautiful Sacrament for them to receive.

Students of St. Matthew School and Parish will make their First Communion at the 4pm Mass at St. Matthew on April 15, 2023. More information will be shared at a later date.
